How it works
How does RideChecker actually analyze a ride offer?
You take a screenshot of the offer in your rideshare app. RideChecker sends that single image to Anthropic's Claude API along with your cost settings. Claude reads the fare, distance, pickup time, and passenger rating, and Aura Metric computes Take-Home, dollars per hour, and dollars per mile from those numbers plus your vehicle cost profile.
The verdict appears in a Live Activity and Dynamic Island. The image is not retained by Anthropic or by us.
Does it work with Uber? Lyft? Other apps?
Yes. RideChecker reads visible offer details from whichever rideshare app you screenshotted in. Uber, Lyft, 99, DiDi, Bolt — any app whose offer screen shows fare, distance, and time.
Does Aura Metric log into my rideshare account?
No. We never connect to Uber, Lyft, or any rideshare platform. We don't have your login credentials.
How accurate is Take-Home?
As accurate as the cost data you enter. Fuel cost per mile = fuel price ÷ MPG. Maintenance per mile = annual maintenance ÷ annual miles. Depreciation per mile = your input. Operating cost per mile = sum × (1 + dead mile %). Take-Home = (fare + tip) − (cost/mile × distance) − (cost/hour × hours) − taxes.
What's a "dead mile"?
A mile you drive that no one is paying you for. The miles to a pickup. The miles back after a long drop-off. Cruising between rides. These still cost fuel and depreciation — just no fare to offset them. Full-time drivers typically run 20–30% dead miles. Default is 25%.
Pricing & subscriptions
Can I try Aura Metric before subscribing?
Yes. The app is free to download. Subscribe when you want unlimited verdicts and the full toolkit. There's also a 3-day free trial on every tier.
How do I cancel my subscription?
iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Aura Metric → Cancel. Two taps. Stays active until the end of the current period.
Will my data disappear if I cancel?
No. Your trip log is stored locally on your iPhone. Even after canceling, you can open the app, view old trips, and export them to CSV. We don't hold your data hostage.
I want a refund.
All payments go through Apple, so refunds do too. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, find Aura Metric, tap Report a Problem.
Privacy & data
Where is my trip data stored?
On your iPhone, in iOS's encrypted local storage. We don't run a backend that holds your trips.
Does Aura Metric track me when I'm not driving?
No. Location tracking only runs during a shift (between Start Shift and End Shift). When the shift ends, tracking stops.
Do you share any data with advertisers?
No. We do not run advertising, use advertising SDKs, or share data with data brokers.
What does Sentry collect?
When the app crashes, Sentry receives an anonymous report — error description, device model, iOS version, app version, a crash screenshot, view-hierarchy snapshot. It does not contain your name, email, location, or identifying information. Sentry deletes it after 30 days.
App store & technical
What iPhone do I need?
iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later. Live Activities with interactive buttons require iOS 17+. Dynamic Island is iPhone 14 Pro and newer.
Is there an Android version?
Not currently. Aura Metric uses iOS-specific features (Live Activities, App Intents, Dynamic Island) that don't exist on Android.
What languages does the app support?
English, Spanish (Latin American), and Brazilian Portuguese. Picks automatically from your iPhone's preferred language setting.
